Dereliction of Duty
Jun 15th, 2008 by jeremy
On a brief walk outside of London (I honestly had no idea where I was) I found this quaint little section of a canal with various docked boats.
Though they were not derelicts, they had a nostalgic feel to them which I opted to portray with some post processing treatment.
I found that the little photowalks I was able to take on my trip were some of my most enjoyable “personal” moments. Though perhaps a little dereliction of my intended duty on the trip, I am glad I was able to get out and explore when I did.

Not sure about the dereliction of duty Jeremy, I personally love seeing how YOU see our country… so bring on some more
Have a good week

Love this effect! I’d love to see what the original looked like, in order to understand how the changes you made post-shot enhanced the mood you were wanting to portray!
The b&w really enhances the nostalgic feel and captures additional detail–that, plus the fact that I like your subject matter–makes this photograph one of my favorites of all you walkabout photos.
Jeremy, I enjoy viewing your pictures, but had no idea that you were a blogger as well! ( I suppose I should have figured with all the “twitting” you do.)
Anyway, keep up the photos!
Great picture!! Love the B&W - pictures take on a whole new dimension when they lose their coloured tones don’t they? I have no idea where you were either when you got that shot - you just make me chuckle when you say that! These tourists……..we can lead them anywhere and lose them sooooo easily - ha!
