First Night Under the Belt
May 20th, 2008 by jeremy
Belfast was a hard working city for the Osmonds, crew and band. There were so many last minute adjustments, rehearsals and generally getting ready for the show events that my head was spinning. I can only imagine what it was like for those actually working!
I am happy to report that the show came off so incredibly well, and was well received by fans and the reviews in the paper, that everyone is in good spirits. Behind the scenes I have been taking many, many photos and sorting through them as I go. On the bus after arriving at the Glasgow airport, I had my first opportunity to display some of the “show” photos to the Osmonds that really haven’t seen my captures before. That is always an important time for me. I want everyone involved to see how I am making them look and begin to feel more comfortable with my ever present camera. I am happy to report that they were well received.
My experience prior to this tour has primarily been with Donny, so I am getting to know the others along the way. On that same aforementioned short bus ride I was able to chat a bit with Merrill and Suzanne and share a few tidbits on our families and some philosophies together. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation.
After arriving and settling in at the hotel I was invited to join most of the band (those creating music behind those famous front 7) for some Indian cuisine. The food was exquisite and the conversation fun making for an enjoyable evening. There really are some great people traveling in this group. Lance, John, Lance, Steve, Tom, Awsa and Lorraine (the last two names being the ladies singing backup vocals) were really a fun bunch to dine with. I tend to be the quiet observer, but they pulled a little of conversation out of me as well
I have been working to get everything aligned for online updates in an official and approved capacity. Just waiting on one last “ok” and the pages will go live. I also have permission to cross post some of the photos over on flickr, so be sure to watch all over! It will of course only be a very small selection out of the many taken, so consider it more of a sneak preview than a best of!
Today we arose early for a live link up from the venue backstage for a morning show. I had only a few hours sleep after staying up working, and several of the Osmonds were tired as well. The moment they sit in front of that camera, though, the famous smiles come out and somehow they look immediately refreshed and ready to perform. Donny has some midday work with ET then back to making some show adjustments; and Jimmy headed to his room with more business at hand. Never a dull moment.
The show tonight is sold out at SECC (The Armadillo) and is twice the size of crowd as opening night. I am looking forward to an energetic event!

Awesome Jeremy!! Keep it coming! We are living this vicariously through your eyes….and lens!
Jeremey:
I am thorougly enjoying reading about this tour through you – sort of an “outsider” type look. You give details that others wouldn’t think about. Can’t wait to see more photos and hear more about how the show goes at SECC!!!! You’re so lucky to be on this tour – considering you didn’t take anyone as your assistant – like me!!!! HA HA HA
Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to post the reports and photos – very much appreciated.
Great photos, as always, Jeremy. Do not forget to pop over to the Osmania Eat and Greet at Wembley – Quality Hotel just next to the arena – to take some photos of one of the biggest Osmond fan gatherings ever – well over 300 people!!!!!

Thanks Jeremy,
loving your shots and your outlook on how things are going.
Hi Jeremy
Really enjoying reading these insights from the tour and seeing your fantastic photos. Please keep ‘em coming. So very much appreciated. See you on tour! First stop for me…Manchester.

Thanks for updates! I love having this connection being here in the USA and not getting to see any of this Live! You are the best!
Don’t work too hard!
Thanks Jeremy for keeping us informed !
I look forward to reading all your posts and I can’t wait for your photos….
Have fun, don’t work too hard and try to stay out of trouble
Aww Jeremy, thanks, keep them coming!

Jeremy, thanks for the update! You are so nice for doing this for us. The photos are awesome!
Thanks, Jeremy, for taking the effort and time (which, I’m sure is an ongoing challenge to find!) to share your experience with us through your photographs and words.
You are an amazing photographer! Have fun, be safe, and pace yourself!

Love this. Keep it coming Jeremy!
Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us. While you get to talk to all of them on the tour, try to convince them to do the shows in the US (especially Dallas)!!! I want to see these shows too.
Thank you Jeremy for taking that amazing shot of The Armadillo, I love that building, your photo is clearly more superior to any I have taken!
Hope you will be mingling behind the scenes at the Meet and Greet in Manchester taking photos of all those fans meeting their heroes, as WE are NOT allowed to take any! (Very disappointed!)

Loving what you are doing down under as well. We’re starved of Osmonds here, and some of us (me
) can’t make it to the one concert they are doing here. Love your work. Always exciting.
A fantastic concert loved every minute. A 1st rate performance by the Osmonds as usual. Great photos.
Hi Jeremy!
I was one of the fans you kindly came over to talk to outside the SECC in Glasgow before the show. I was there with my friend and you took our photo with the gold glittery Osmond writing on it. Thanks for taking the time to speak to us. Hope you enjoyed your time in Scotland and we would love to see you come back again (with the Osmonds of course!!!) very SOOOOOON!!!
Have a great tour and look forward to seeing all your wonderful photographs!
I feel like I’m there! Thanks for doing this log. I’m sure it’ll help you too when the tour is over. I had to smile when reading about showing your captures. That’s the same way I feel when doing a video job for someone. Can’t wait to see more pictures.
