Jay’s Solo
Jun 9th, 2008 by jeremy
Jay Osmond has a tremendous solo in the middle of a medley from “The Plan” that rocks the house. As he nears the end there is a pause where he strikes this pose. I captured this from various angles, but this was one of my favorite of the moment.
It’s moments like these I try to work hard to capture. There are various things I look for, including individual scenes, group scenes, the entire stage and setting and interactions between people. I am very fortunate to be able to shoot multiple shows for a project like this one, allowing me to catch scenes at a subsequent concert that I may have missed at a previous one.

Jeremy!
I agree with you about the phenomenal solo that Jay does! I heard about this particular one through friends that attended the UK concerts. I have a similar shot from a 2002 Florida show that reflects the intensity and stamina he has perfected. Thanks for sharing your “highlights” of the world tour. More and more I am eagerly anticipating the release of your book! Thanks again. Lynn
More and more your “previews” are drawing us in Jeremy!! I’ve loved Jay’s drum solo for many years and he has perfected it with time. I have a similar shot taken 2002 in Florida and the expressions on his face are priceless!! Thanks for catching an equally amazing photograph!!
Take care,
Lynn Roberts
Great shot Jeremy, sure captured the moment!

That? Is a FANTASTIC shot!! He’s so happy and in his element at the kit, isn’t he? LOVE it. Can’t wait for the book, Jeremy!
First, I want to say how much I’ve enjoyed your photographs and your blog entries. Your blog is now on my Favorites list, and I look forward to your future work. Have you considered a companion book which features the photos taken on this trip which aren’t directly related to the tour?
About this photo in particular, Polly is right. Jay brings a great deal of joy to his drumming, and you’ve captured that beautifully. Drummers must be difficult to photograph because of where the kit sits on stage and the constant movement of the drummer, but your timing here is perfect.
Hi Jeremy
WHAT A FAB PHOTO! The man is just brilliant and thoroughly enjoys what he does (hey I could be talking about you here!)
Good to see you at ALL 11 of the shows - although I “THINK” I avoided your camera though I’m sure my friends didn’t LOLs
I absolutely LOVE this capture Jeremy !!! I have an eerily similar one in fact from Florida in 2002 and I know what you mean about it being a tremendous solo! I am always in awe of his abilities and the fact that he pours every ounce of strength and stamina into his solo set. He is a master at his craft and preserving it forever this way is one of the top reasons I have preordered your book!!! I look forward to the other not-yet-revealed shots you took. I expect to be thoroughly blown away by your photos!!
Take care,
Lynn Roberts - Florida
Whooohooo! Thanks, Jeremy! You did great!
Fab shot of Jay at the drums.. just what Drummy wanted!
ta ever so!
“Drumstick”
Wicked shot! That’s the kind of shot you dream of when taking live concert photos! (I do it myself for local bands in Ontario, I know how difficult drummers can be, heh.)
I love it. That drum solo absolutely ROCKED! And this captures that memory perfectly. Thank you
Jeremy, I absolutely love this shot!!
Jeremy you are a photographic genius What a great shot Sue
