Life Tip #10: Take the Scenic Route
Apr 25th, 2007 by jeremy
How much of a routine oriented person are you. Admittedly I fall into this category. I like to call myself an efficiency oriented person, but once I find what I think to be the most efficient routine, that is the one I will always follow.
Because I recognize my tendency to fall into routines, I like to consciously vary what I am doing. Why? Simply for the sake of doing something different to vary my day. Though a life of routine can be very good, it can also be boring.
One simple way you can do this is to vary your route you drive. Whether it be your daily commute to work, to the store, or anything like this, try a different route. Of course this may not be all that possible based on where you live, but even if parts of the route are the same, take a few different turns even if it means driving a few extra blocks or even miles.
You’ll be suprised how much more you actually look at your surroundings when you are taking a different route. You may notice new landscaping someone has done, see different people, or perhaps think to talk to someone you haven’t seen in awhile. Your brain will be stimulated with new thoughts and ideas, all by this simple act.
So, on your next drive, try out a different path to your destination and see what it does for you.
