Life Tip #9: Take the Stairs

This photo has been making its way around the ‘net on funny emails and blog posts galore. I love it. I think this epitomizes a big problem with our society; we’re in the habit of being lazy.
How many times have you taken the elevator to the second floor of a building simply because it was there? How many times have you jumped on the escalator when stairs were right there next to them? How about driving around the parking lot to find the closest parking space at the gym?
Yep, most of us are lazy by nature. We lead increasingly sedentary lives, lacking in physical tasks. We are required to set aside time to got the gym to replace the exercise previous generations were able to achieve in their everyday lives. In some ways you can’t fault this habit of skipping stairs because we are just taking the path of least resistance, right? Well, working against resistance is what makes us stronger, so yes, I am going to fault it!
Take the stairs. We have all heard it before, but still we often forget to put it into practice. This simple little act gives us a bit of exercise, contributing to our well being and health. It may not seem like much, but the more we put it into practice, these little bits of exercise add up. On top of this, you work to develop good habits and a mentality of being more healthy in other aspects of your life.
