Updated WordPress to 2.5 & Site News
Apr 3rd, 2008 by jeremy
Today I took the plunge and updated the software running this blog to the latest version. One the downsides to WordPress is the need to make updates to keep up with the latest security fixes. Inevitably there is some plug in that stops working or a glitch in the update process. Of course this is also one of the bonuses in that WordPress always seems to be improving with regular updates. I guess with the price tag (free) I really can’t complain. I like its features and extensibility.
This update went well, without a hitch. There were some plugin updates that were notified that I did that seem to have everything running smoothly. The admin area is drastically changed both in design and some functionality. I have to say I like it. Most of all, the site responsiveness and performance seems much improved. Both good things!
Those on the subscriber list will have noticed an out of the blue update on a very old post. That seems to be the only “glitch” out of everything.
I have talked about this previously but I have committed now to get myself moved over to a different blog in the near future. I started WGG and WGS with as an experiment and exploration in some subject areas that I am really not addressing any more. My plan is to get a Great Projects blog started up for my photobloggging, which really seems to be most of what I am doing these days anyway. I will likely move over all the photo oriented articles to that blog and then decide later what to do with WGG and WGS. If anyone is interested in taking over either of these sites, let me know and I may consider it.

Sometimes I feel that I don’t spend enough time shooting these days. I try to at least spend a little time photoshopping when I have time but not for shooting. I really need too find more time to be behind the view finder. Look forward to seeing the new blog!
