What Is REALLY Important?
Aug 30th, 2007 by LeiGul
This morning before my alarm went off I hear… “Mom? Mom are you awake?” I am now, I thought. I look up to see my beautiful 7 year-old-boy smiling at me. “Hey Mom, It’s cold can I get in?” I scoot over to let my son jump in. From there we lie there and talk about anything and everything he wants to. Which usually consists of “Why is the sky blue? Are there such things as ghosts” and occasionally the really important things get discussed, like “Is Santa Clause really real?” I look at him and wonder when my not-so-little guy grew up, how did he get so tall and articulate, and when did he start questioning the existence of Santa Claus????
This morning ritual started early on. He has always been a morning person, and I have NEVER been. I struggled with his waking up so early; until I realize what a wonderful opportunity this was to have “Our Time”. The other kids don’t budge until at least 8AM so we get about an hour of just talking. This time reminds me what a blessing Motherhood is. It is also the time that I kick myself for staying up so late the night before!!!
